Hey everyone-

I don’t know what to say right now. I don’t.

We’re safe. That’s all that’s important. We’re going to be closed for a few days. We haven’t even been to the kitchen yet to asses any losses or damage. I don’t even want to think about that right now. I’m just staring at the news, drinking a cup of coffee, trying not to cry. Trying to show my kids everything will be ok.

I’ve lived in New York City my entire life. This is not a place, it is not just mythology. This city is my mother, my life. Thing is with New Yorkers is that this isn’t just where we live- this is a part of us. When one of us hurts, we all hurt.

I remember the months after 9/11, how we thought the pain would never end. That’s exactly how I feel today.

But we’ll get up, and we’ll be ok. Because its just water. Because we’re tough. Because even if were scared, we never show it. Because our ancestors built and rebuilt this town, and we’ll do it again like they did. Because we’ve been hit by fires and hurricanes and tornadoes and jet planes, and not only are we still here, we’re still the greatest city in the world. Because when things look crazy and terrifying, New Yorkers do what they do best- we get up, and we keep going.

Because we are New York City. And there’s nothing we can’t do.
