Right on the heels of our historic couch purchase on Wednesday comes yet another monumental day in the Robicelli’s household. Seriously, everything’s just been coming up Allison all week. And with Steve Lawler, Internet Week, Techmunch, Rooftop Films, and Down & Derby Roller Disco all happening in the next seven days, I’m thinking it’s only going to be getting better. Or I’m going to have a nervous breakdown from exhaustion. Luckily for all of you, I’ll probably live-Tweet it, so at least you’ll all be able to point and laugh.
Back to the awesomeness of today: at 12:30, I will be attending my first ever “Muffins with Mommy” tea party at my children’s preschool! Further explaining the magnitude of this event: I’ve been a mom for five years now, meaning that I’ve had five Mother’s Days. But to tell you the truth- none of them really count until your kids understand what it is, and have enough dexterity to make a passable macaroni necklace. And this is that year! Not only that, but they’re actually making the muffins at preschool, which means not only are they finally cooking for me, but that I can probably put them to work once summer vacation starts.
Speaking of Mother’s Day, while pre-ordering is now closed and we are no longer accepting delivery requests, we will still have LOTS of special Mother’s Day cupcakes all weekend at DeKalb, including the first ever appearance of the Betty White cupcake (more on that tomorrow), and Chicken n’Waffles! And our super duper ultra popular Strawberry Champagne cupcake is back not only at DeKalb but at our retail partners as well. It’s only released four times a year: New Years Eve, Valentine’s Day, our anniversary (October 7th), and Mother’s Day. Grab one before you have to wait another ten months to revel in it’s sexiness!

Clockwise from front: Strawberry Champangne, Estelle Getty, Bea Arthur, Banana Nutella
Strawberry Champagne: Champagne cake, strawberry champagne buttercream and compote
Estelle Getty: Amaretto cake, cheesecake buttercream, crushed imported Sicilian amaretti cookies
Bea Arthur: Black coffee chocolate cake, cheesecake buttercream, espresso ganache
Banana Nutella: Banana cake, Nutella buttercream, banana chip and hazelnut praline

Today is a landmark day in the Robicelli’s household. We are now the proud owners of this (but in blue):

“What’s the big deal!”, you say? “It’s just a couch!”, you say? Well, this isn’t just any old couch! This is the very first grown-up couch that Matt and I have ever bought in seven years of cohabitation! It’s not from a garage sale, we didn’t find it on the street, it doesn’t have holes or stains we think we can conceal with a slipcover, totally ignoring the fact that the mere act of sitting causes slipcovers to slide right off a couch.
After a 12 hour day, I stuffed myself right into that corner piece, put my feet up, and have not moved for two hours. Partially because it’s so comfy, it’s like laying down on a cloud. And partially because after a 12 hour day, I can’t stand up again.
There’s a good chance I’ll still be stuck here tomorrow, meaning you’ll also be able to find me screwing around on Facebook or Twitter. So keep me company as I do invoices and work on a creating a permanent Allison-shaped groove on this thing!

Not as sexy as this one though.
Or as sexy as these:

Big weekend news guys! So big- there’s going to be a second Tumblr post today all about it. Maybe another tomorrow. Tweets, Facebook posts, generalized yelling and screaming- point is, we’re going to be all over this crap for the next couple of days, so you better start preparing yourself for becoming so overcome with excitement, you may need all new underwear.
First up, Saturday is “Brunch All Day” at DeKalb til 6pm, meaning we were asked to make special “brunchy” things (yeah, that’s a word now. I didn’t invent it, so don’t look at me). We used to do an insanely popular brunch at our original (and long shuttered) Bay Ridge store, but haven’t made any of our signature doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches, sticky buns etc for ages now. One item in particular gets asked for over and over and over again…..and since we love you guys so much, we’re bringing back our famous scones for one day only!
Now I know some of you are having a little trouble getting really excited about scones. Really, no, I get it. Even telling you that there’s going to be blueberries involved isn’t going to be enough, and that’s fine. I’ve still got more for you to get excited about:

It’s time for the Beta launch of Twilight Market! I’ve probably mentioned this before, but this year the market is being run by spectacle wunderkids Joann Kim and Jen Lyon, two of my favorite people of all time because they do nothing but show you a good time. It’s their job. Just like Santa Claus.
And we’ve got SPANK ROCK playing! Even if you’ve never heard of them, you have to admit it’s really fun saying “Spank Rock”. I know I’ll be saying it as much as I possibly can over the next two days until Matt eventually threatens to divorce me.
So now you’ve got your weekend planned, you have the exciting promise of another riveting post going down sometime today, the knowledge of impending scones…..what more could you want? How about some delicious sweets in your belly to end the workweek on a high note?

Clockwise from front: Banana Nutella, Sixpoint Brownstone, The Aris, Ebinger
Banana Nutella: Banana cake, Nutella buttercream, hazelnut banana chip praline
Sixpoint Brownstone: Sixpoint brownstone ale cake, Brownstone ale toffee buttercream, crushed chocolate espresso beans
The Aris: Walnut cake, honey butter, Greek yogurt buttercream with orange zest and cinnamon, honey glazed spiced walnuts
Ebinger: Chocolate cake, chocolate custard buttercream, chocolate fudge dip, chocolate cake crumbs

As magical as the past five years of motherhood have been, one thing I really, really do miss is having a nice apartment. This place was never exactly the Ritz, but BC (before children) we had a nice dining table with a runner and candleholders, fewer murals made from a mixed medium of Crayola markers and toothpaste, a DVD player that wasn’t destroyed by someone putting pancakes in it, and portions of the wall that had been “fixed” by repeatedly stabbing at it with a toy screwdriver.
Now that the children are older and more mature, and since we have one final weekend of rest before our shop at DeKalb Market opens, we’re doing the only logical thing - moving all of our furniture and painting the apartment. Cavern Moss- the most soothing of the greens! Soon, this place will be as lovely as our Pinterest page.
We also took away their toy screwdrivers. They had like six of those freaking things. I don’t know where they hell they’re getting them from.

As of 1:28pm today, Matt and I will have been parents for precisely five years. Not only have I not lost or broken Atticus, but he’s actually shaping up to be a pretty amazing little man. Seriously! No one is as surprised by this as I am!
A few weeks ago, Matt and I brought home a gigantic bag of cookbooks- perhaps 9 different titles. Our kids, of course, automatically thought the big bag we were gifts for them and started tearing through it. I thought Atticus would grab the most colorful book, or maybe the one with all the cakes and candies in it. But no, he picks THIS one:
Now, this is an outstanding book, but a very very serious one. The first half speaks about the current state of the commercial meat industry, slaughterhouses, the case for sustainable farming methods and humane slaughter, etc. Atticus isn’t just looking at the pictures - he’s been reading since he was four. He spends the entire night sitting next to me glued to this book, saying things like “Oooh, Mommy! Look! This is a shank! This is a tenderloin! What’s silverskin?”.
Most of you might think this is cute, but as someone who’s spent the past ten years as a professional chef, and who is married to another chef, I am terror-stricken. My boy is going to be a doctor or a football player or maybe even a pyrotechnician for Disneyland, but absolutely, positively not a chef. Even more pressing than this issue (I mean, he’s five- I still have PLENTY of time to talk him out of this), is the issue that I’m going to have to explain to him that he’s reading about the slaughter of real animals, like the one we see at the petting zoo, and I might end up with a vegan preschooler. It’s pretty much the chef version of the “birds and the bees” talk.
I sit him down on my knee and open the book to the diagram of the cow.
“Atticus, you know this a real cow, right? It’s not just a drawing. Like when we go to the farm museum, or to the zoo, and see the animals there? Well, we….um….we (gulp) kill the animals and cut them up just like in this drawing. And then we cook the cut up pigs and cows and chickens and eat them. So that’s why it’s important for us to respect animals, and important for us not to waste meat, because an animal gave it’s life for us. Do you understand?”
He looks up at me, and says
“Yes Mommy, I know. We kill them and they make delicious hamburgers. Which part of the cow do those come from?”.
That was 4 weeks ago. He still reads the Fleisher’s book every night before he falls asleep. And for his fifth birthday today? He’s asked for subscriptions to Food & Wine and Saveur, and yesterday he asked for “more counter space for my toy kitchen”.

He’s picked this piece from the Ikea catalog for not only it’s ample “counterspace”, but for the fact that he can store his kitchen tools and cookbooks in the drawers. And he asked his Uncle Scott from Brooklyn Cured to teach him to make sausages. He says he now wants to be a “cooker” when he grows up. His little brother? He says he wants to be “A cheese maker and Batman”.
*sniff* Ok, maybe I’m a little proud of my boys.
Happy birthday, Buddy. I love being a chef, and a writer, an entrepreneur, and whatever the hell else it is I do, but the job I love more than all those things put together is being your mommy.

Tomorrow is Matt’s birthday! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!
![]()
And you KNOW we’re going to be partying hard! Saturday we’re going to take our oldest son for this Kindergarten admission test! And if he’s good, we’re going to get him some ice cream!!! WOOOOO!!!!
*sigh* I had planned something really nice, and then right after I was all set I got the letter from the Department of Education that out of all days, they scheduled Atticus’ test right in the middle of Matt’s birthday surprise. Things happen. But now my husband’s birthday is less than 24 hours away, and I have NO idea what to get him.
You know what I think he’d REALLY like? For all of you to wish him a happy birthday on Twitter. Many of you don’t realize that he has his own account (@mattrobicelli), since I’m the one @robicellis who’s always talking (that’s in real life too). You should follow him and wish him a happy birthday, because I really think that would make his day.
Or what about making him a card like the one I did above and posting it up to our Facebook page? Or perhaps a video of you singing “Happy Birthday”, or “(I Wear My) Sunglasses At Night”? There could be a prize in it for the one that makes him smile the most. Not that I need to bribe you or anything.
What else can you do for Matt’s birthday? Celebrate with some cake!

We’re only halfway through the week and I got to do two really cool things. Monday night, me and my BFF Danny Macaroons hit the launch party for the redesigned Zagat blog, which was even more fun than you can imagine. Saw lots of great friends, made some new ones, got to meet a lot of fans for the first time, AND I went home with a snazzy tin of Zagat breath mints! I smelled like an effervescent bouquet of wintergreen and sweet & sour chicken all night, which is no doubt why I was so popular!
Even thought that pretty much would have qualified as the coolest thing EVER on any given week in my life, this week, it gets second place. WHAT could have been more exciting? Well how about on Sunday night at Madame X, getting all amped up for…….
CUPCAKE CRUISE!!!!!
Once again- YES, this is a real thing! I wouldn’t lie about something this important!
This is what I know from the meeting:
A- This is going to be pretty much the coolest thing ever. Matt and I have been looking over all the stuff there is to do on the Celebrity Summit, and want to get on the boat NOW. They’re also well known for having the best food on any cruise line, and as someone who’s been on a few cruises before, that’s really saying something (I still remember every single meal I had on a Princess Cruise 10 years ago- it was that memorable).
B- If you call it a “boat”, the people from the cruise get REALLY mad. It’s a ship, and you hurt the ship’s feelings when you call it a boat. Sorry, ship
C- The cruise isn’t all about cupcakes, so everyone who’s thinks they can’t take seven whole days of cupcakes can relax. What it IS is a regular Celebrity cruise with all the normal events, shows, entertainment etc. HOWEVER, if you book through the Cupcake Cruise tour group, you will get all the regular stuff, plus
-a pastry science and technique master class with us!
-a recipe development class with the dudes from Baked!
-a cupcake decorating class with the authors of Hello, Cupcake!
-a “How to start a small business” class with us!
-a private cupcake and cocktail party!
-a tour of the cruise ship kitchen with Celebrity’s pastry chef!
-a private beach party with other bakers from across the globe!
-the chance to work out with me in the gym every morning, and watch me berate myself on the treadmill as I cry!
All that stuff above is over a $500 value on land. But at sea, all those things, PLUS all your food, PLUS your lodging and travel to Bermuda, PLUS your entertainment, PLUS childcare, PLUS all the room service you care to order- it’s all included in the price of your trip! How ridiculous is that!
If you love baking, this really is the best vacation you can take this year. And did I mention the free childcare yet? I did? Can I admit that this is my favorite part of the entire trip? Like, I can drop my preschoolers off and have a romantic dinner with Matt, or leave them on the boat while I go snorkeling at the site of a sunken ship? Or maybe my favorite part is that once they go to sleep, Matt and I can order unlimited room service pizzas and eat them in bed?
Start talking your family into it now- that last thing I learned at the meeting is that there’s only a limited amount of room on the cruise, and bookings have already started coming in from all over the country. So essentially, book sooner rather than later- they told me by April, the boat (er, ship) is usually fully booked.
Also remember- if you own a bakery or a food blog, you can write this off! Seriously! Go call your accountant right now and ask him- it’s going to make your entire day! And if it doesn’t totally make your day, then maybe you need a cupcake for that extra push!

It’s only a few short weeks until Halloween, and only one until the Fall Fest at DeKalb Market! One of my initial mistakes as a mother was making the vow long ago that I would never buy costumes, but rather be resourceful and patch them together myself like we did when we were kids. Then last year I sort of spazzed on Halloween and waited til the the last minute, which is why Toby ended up going trick or treating dressed as the dude from the Spin Doctors.
You thought I was kidding, didn’t you.
This year, however, I wasn’t making the same mistake! We went to our local abandoned store turned Halloween shop and bought costumes loooong before they sold out and the kids ended up having to be the guy from Soul Asylum this year.
Atticus is going to be Finn McMissle from Cars 2, and Toby’s going to be Thomas the Tank Engine. And they both look SUPER adorable! Once they were done picking out their costumes, I went over to the grownup section to look for myself. Should I be a unicorn? We all know how much I love unicorns.

Hmmmm…..I’ve never seen a unicorn in person, but I’m pretty sure they’re not supposed to look like that. Maybe I’m wrong, who knows! But I just have a little too much self esteem to be pulling that off. Ummm…oh, I know! How about Snow White! My kids love that movie! Yeah- I’ll dress up like Snow White and go trick or treating with them!

Waaaiiiit a second…..I don’t remember that from the movie. Maybe in the sake of modesty, I should go for something a little more masculine? Maybe a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?

Ok, this is ridiculous. I watched TMNT religiously when I was a kid, and I don’t remember Donatello wearing thigh high boots ONCE.
I’m just going to do the OPPOSITE of Halloween convention and go as a nun.

Oh son of a BITCH!!!!
You know what? I’m NOT dressing up now. Eff this. Men are allowed to dress up like Dracula, or Waldo, or Elvis, and you know what all those guys have in common? THEY’RE ALL WEARING PANTS. Matt can dress up for Halloween. I’m done.

Motherfu…….

If you follow us on Facebook, you would have seen us cryptically announce that we had a huge piece of news that would have to wait for Monday. And I’m not even going to waste your time with jokes or anything, because this is without question the ABSOLUTE COOLEST FREAKING THING EVER.
You ready?
Next August, from the 19th til the 26th, Cupcakes Take the Cake will hosting….
THE FIRST EVER CUPCAKE CRUISE ON CELEBRITY CRUISE LINES!!!!
The Celebrity Summit will be leaving Port Liberty New Jersey for several fun days at sea as it makes its way to beautiful sunny Bermuda, where you’ll be able to spend three whole days doing whatever it is people do in Bermuda!
There will be a Cupcake & Cocktails event, a “Cupcake Beach Party”, decorating classes with the people who wrote “Hello, Cupcake!”, a workshop with the guys from Baked, and of course…..US!!!! As of now, we’re teaching a technique class, and will be baking cupcakes on board for several of the events.
I will talk more about this in detail another day, because right now I am just too freaking excited about all of this. I know this will sound really stupid to a lot of you, but I’ve always been kinda jealous about people who get to travel for work. And everyone who I tell that to is like “UGH! You don’t want to travel- it sucks! It’s not a vacation, you don’t get downtime, it’s not fun at all”.
Thing is, I haven’t done much travelling. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, and we didn’t take vacations (my dad’s idea of a vacation was taking a week off from work to patch up the roof). Probably the most exotic place I’ve ever been was that time I drove to Kentucky, which was the most foreign place I’ve ever experienced. Yes, I’ve been out of the country, but remember I grew up in Brooklyn where there were lots of people from Mexico and the West Indies, but not a lot of people from Kentucky.
I love seeing new places and meeting people who don’t know anything of New York. I love hotel rooms with their little bottles of shampoo, and sitting in a plane with my face pressed up against the glass, bouncing up and down like I’m five years old while it takes off. I love road trips and rest stops, listening to different radio stations and eating things I’ve never heard of but the waitress swears is good. And I’m 31 years old and still haven’t done it, and now I have two kids so not only is it difficult to travel, but it gets really really expensive when you realize that you can’t go anywhere without paying for four people.
But next August? I’M ON A BOAT!!! I’m going to get to hang out with bakers from all over the world for seven days to share ideas, learn new things and meet new people. I’ll be on a proper trip for the first time in six years. AND I’m going to get to sleep without my kids climbing into bed and waking my ass up at 5am for SEVEN WHOLE DAYS.
This is kinda the best news I have gotten in a long long long long time. Thank you so much to all the Cupcakes Take the Cake girls for asking us to go. We are so freaking lucky.
And the best part of all of this is that YOU can come on the boat with us! I know somewhere on your dream list is “Going on a vacation with the Robicelli’s”, and now you have the opportunity! Here’s what you need to do:
-Go “like” the Cupcake Cruise Facebook Page. Follow them on Twitter. You’ll be able to keep up with all the news and goings on as they happen.

Every night Matt and I bake, we get back well after midnight, I bring the babysitter home, then snuggle into my bed with the laptop to write that days Tumblr. And within 5 seconds of opening my computer, this is the view on the keyboard:
Charley doesn’t care about the Tumblr. Charley is pissed off that I’ve been off working all day, or spending all my time with the kids or husband that came WAY after he did, and he wants to be pet rightthisverysecond or he’ll pee in my shoes.
So tonight, since he’s been such a good boy, I’ve agreed that I would allow him to write the blog. Take it away, cat:

And THIS is why he’ll always be a no good freeloader and never get a real freaking job. Lousy cat.
Please buy some cupcakes and help us keep this loafer rolling in kibble. We obviously see he’s going to be no help around here.

I’m halfway tempted to just blow right through this blog post because as of now, Matt and I are OFFICIALLY ON VACATION!!!! That’s right folks- there will be no deliveries this Wednesday because our family will be living the good live at Sesame Place in Pennsylvania! WOOHOO!!!!

We’re going to look just like this, but way, way sweatier and tired looking.
Aside from the obvious lure of hanging out with Super Grover for three days, and being able to take a vacation so close to home since you can’t really travel with a small business and have to keep it brief, there’s a third and very important reason we picked this for our first vacation in two years. Sesame Place is a very short drive to where we’re staying- in Princeton, NJ. And Princeton is home to one of the greatest culinary experiences in the entire United States:

The Bent Spoon- creators of the greatest ice cream IN HUMAN HISTORY. Ice cream that we will be eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner for our entire vacation.
We met the owner, Gabby, extremely briefly last summer at Meatopia and didn’t get a chance to try her ice cream because of the ridiculous line (about the length of Colonel’s Row on Governor’s Island). HUGE disappointment, since I had just read in Dessert Professional about how they are one of the ten best ice cream makers in America, and were at the top of my “must try” list for the day.
A few weeks later, we went to the shop in Princeton and asked if she happened to be there. She came out from the back, and immediately recognized us from our 25 second meeting. As we ate our ice cream (sweet corn ice cream at that-one of my top 5 food experiences of all time), we explained that the next day was Toby’s second birthday, and the day after was my 30th. She gave us a bag to open in our hotel room: inside were cupcakes with birthday candles, party hats, t-shirts for us and the kids, and all the money we had spent at the store tucked inside an envelope.
The next day we returned for “breakfast ice cream” (it is that addictive) and to return the money. She absolutely refused, saying that us people in the business needed to stick together. We came back several times that day as my in-laws and Matt’s brother came to see us, and every time, no charge. And no, we didn’t keep going back because she was comping us. Bent Spoon is so good, it’s like when you see the most unbelievably awesome thing you have ever witnessed in your life, and you immediately have to call everyone you know to say “You NEED to see this dude! Seriously, RIGHT NOW!”. You eat it and it stops time. Its supernatural ice cream.
I think Gabby thought the reason we had come down to Princeton for the weekend was for me and Toby’s birthdays, or maybe just to de-stress and finally check out her shop in the process. What she didn’t know was that 24 hours before I walked through her doors, my grandmother had passed away. Even though she was 89 and had been in declining heath for weeks, when she died it was more than I could take emotionally- how do you let go of a woman who practically raised you? Who is a huge part of the reason you fell in love with food and shaped it’s meaning for you? To let go of the last surviving member of that generation, of the old Italian guard that is slowly disappearing from Brooklyn? It seemed everything reminded me of her- every street, every shop, every corner. I felt that I couldn’t survive the grieving process staying surrounded by family and my memories, so Matt, the kids and I got into the car, and we ran away from home. Running away brought us to Princeton, and to Gabby.
Those two days are where I realized the incredible power of what food, and hopefully, the power our stuff has. By all logic I should have holed up in that hotel room and cried into a bottle of bourbon, because being drunk to the point you’re sick would have felt better than I did in the hours after my grandmother died. And yet there I was in Princeton, smiling. We might not be saving refugees or curing cancer, but really wonderful food can change everything in your life, even if it’s just for a minute or two.
Every day when I wake up and I just don’t want to do it all, where I feel useless and unappreciated and think I should just crawl back in bed and watch movies under the covers, I think of how I felt that day in The Bent Spoon. I get up, go to work, and do my best to make each thing I bake as close to perfect as I possibly can. And I pray that they’ll reach someone who is sad or hurting or frustrated, and it will make them smile. We may just be the little things in life, but sometimes, those little things are the most important ones of all.
And now here’s your picture and flavors- we’re on vacation!

If you didn’t notice, our June schedule has been posted, and summer flavors are just around the corner! Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, peaches…….ooooooh child am I excited! More importantly, you can all start planning your private orders for the next month- whether it’s a wedding, graduation party, or just cupcakes for your office. Click here for details on how to order.
Later this week I’ll be coordinating all our IndieGoGo stuff for all you amazing people who contributed- it’s been one of those weeks where I haven’t had a moment to breathe. Plus, I’ve started a diet where I’m not allowed to have coffee, so I’m down to only one extra large iced cup a day. Baby steps, folks.
Semi-new flavor today: Mango Coconut! We debuted it a few weeks ago at Guactacular and have been selling it on the sly at The Cupcake Stand (our cupcake shop with the folks from Crespella in Sunset Park). First we take fresh mangos, which are just unbelievably gorgeous right now, and roast them at a high heat until they’re caramelized. Then we mix it with buttercream, put it on top of our moist coconut cake, then garnish with that natural roasted coconut I’m so terribly fond of. It’s a great reminder that summer will eventually get here, even though it might never stop raining.

Today is my best friend’s birthday, which I’m actually taking pretty hard. Debbie and I have been soulmates since we met in Mrs. Reisert’s class back in ‘87, and today she is THIRTY ONE YEARS OLD. This can mean that in only a few short months……*sigh*……….I will also be thirty one.
When we were in second grade, I don’t think either of us thought about what life would be like this far ahead. We were fixated on what would happen when we got to high school and got finally lockers (consensus- lockers are highly overrated). When we looked at someone who was 31, it was as good as looking at someone who was 85. You know how I’m obsessed with the Golden Girls? Remember how they seemed to be ancient when we were kids? They were only supposed to be in their fifties! They were younger on that show than my parents are now! So can you imagine how old the two of us must look to MY kids?!?!?!? Jesus Christ- my kids actually think I know what the hell I’m doing!!!!
Turning 30 last year didn’t seem too bad, because it seemed like the exclamation point at the end of your twenties. I did pretty good with mine- from wild child and heavy metal clubs, to a cancer victim to cancer survivor, then to chef, then wife, mother and eventually entrepreneur. But 31…..that’s being IN your thirties. I always thought thirtysomethings were settled- they knew their place in the world, what they wanted to be when they grew up, and had it all figured out. Now that I’m here with all my friends, I know that almost everyone in their thirties still partially feels like they’re still 8 years old, only trapped in a very large body that is beginning to hurt a lot more than it used to.
But you know what the best part of being 31 is? It means that for the past 24 years, I’ve had Debbie right next to me for the whole thing- through the first crushes and first rejections, the dreams and disappointments, on every path we’ve started down and every single damn time we’ve changed course. And it means that in another 24 when I’m old enough to be Blanche Deveraux, Debbie is going to be right next to me as my Rose.
Thirty-one may not be as grandiose as closing out our twenties, but I feel that each birthday we have is the exclamation point on another year where the two of us keep getting better, keep growing with each other, and keep picking each other up so we make it through another birthday side-by-side. We may not have it all figured out yet, but as long as we have each other, we know we’ll get there. Eventually. (In theory.)
I lucked out with you, Deb. Thanks for being my best friend. And thanks for being 4 months older than me- it’s totally softening the blow.
Now- cupcakes!

Today’s a first- we’re pulling the “flavors subject to change due to inventory” card. SOMEBODY went to Fairway before us on Saturday night and bought up all the hazelnut extract, so we couldn’t make Hazelnut Kiss cupcakes for today. Whomever you are, I hope you’re reeeaaaalllly happy with yourself.
But of course, there’s a plan B. To make it up to all of you, we’re doing a BRAND NEW FLAVOR on Monday! :-O This one was on the docket for next month- Banana Nutella. This also marks the first cupcake that was partially designed by our Facebook fans, so if you’d like to have input on other future cupcakes, make sure you friend us.
Also we want to say hello to all our new friends up in Astoria who went to get our cupcakes at Queens Comfort and caused them to sell out in mere HOURS on Friday. You guys are phenomenal, you know that?
Short post today because I’m working on getting our Easter ordering page up- I’ll tweet when it’s up, hopefully early afternoon. If you’re planning on ordering, do so quick, as we always take limited orders during the holidays, and we normally fill up pretty fast. Now flavors!
