The Tumblr is going to get a little bit wonky for a bit, but possibly also very awesome. Let me explain.

July and August is our “slow” season. We’re still working our asses off. But this is when some of our retail locations close for vacation, our customers go out of town, etc etc. Which is sort of great for our Tuesday night production, because since ordering is down (it’s always our slowest day), we’re able to make tons of batters and up the number of offerings at the DeKalb Market shop considerably.  We’re R&Ding new recipes, developing new products. AND we’re working on lots of crazy behind the scenes projects so that when everyone in New York is back from the Hamptons or down the shore come September, we’ll have lots of fun stuff to show you.

Of course, all the stuff I’m working on NOW isn’t exciting at this very second. It will be really exciting in the fall, I promise. Right now, most of it involves me staring at the computer, or being on the phone with customer service reps, or other stuff that sort of kills my “funny blogging” voice and inspires my “Hey, does anyone know how to do a star wipe in Powerpoint so I can make these financial projections look magical?” voice.

Plus, I’m working on the book right now and I need to save all my funny for that. And if anyone knows how to work a star wipe into a print book, let me know.

So here’s the plan- til labor day, we’ll be doing “Guest Blog Wednesdays”. As of last night, we have 19,692 (WHAT?!?!) Tumblr subscribers, and thousands more direct page views every week from all over the world. You want to promote your local food/travel/wine/humor blog? Show everyone a fancy picture you took of your cat?  Plug an event? Share a video of your dad getting hit in the nuts? (PLEASE someone do that last one)

Let me know via email (Allison at Robicellis dot com), or on Facebook. I’ll post the best submissions every Wednesday. Preference will be given to anyone who makes me laugh. And nutshots always make me laugh. Remember that.

Our first guest blog is actually a cross post from one of my favorite websites- The Skint. They’re having their second annual Bastille Day event this weekend at, coincidence, DeKalb Market! AND double coincidence, we were the food vendors at their first Bastille Day event last year! It was a really, really amazing show- ridiculous bands, a hilarious food competition, and most importantly, boobs. Lots and lots of boobs. And French boobs at that!

For cupcake flavors, locations, etc, check the tabs at the top of the page. And I’ll be back on Friday with ACTUAL news. Promise.

Commemorate the French Revolution in true New York style, with burlesque, baguettes, and booze!

We had such a blast last year that we just had to do it again. But this time we’re holding it at Dekalb Market, downtown Brooklyn’s outdoor food, shopping, and events market housed in a collection of salvaged shipping containers. With plenty of affordable food and beverage options to choose from, you’ll be able to make a night of it. Vive la différence!

On deck:

Live Music & Dancing with THE HOT SARDINES, playing straight-up, foot-stomping jazz… and with a tap dancer providing percussion, no less.

French Burlesque and Can-Can by THE LOVE SHOW.

The romantic, roaming stylings of Stroh violin-playing PETE LANCTOT.

The return of the infamous BAGUETTE-EATING CONTEST!

FREE PHOTO BOOTH with Frenchie props to capture those revolutionary mooods.

Your M.C. NIC TAMÈRE returns from Toulouse, only to find NYC’s no-smoking laws are still de rigueur.

FOOD & BEER VENDORS a-plenty.

All nations welcome!
