WE WON “BEST MADE IN NY FILM” AT THE FOOD FILM FESTIVAL! AHHHHH!

Well, actually, WE didn’t win it. The filmmaker Alison Grasso won it, since she “did all the work” or something like that.

Considering there were so many amazing NYC based films presented this weekend, this is an INSANE honor- especially that now there’s been a film about us featured two years running.  We love that so many of you enjoy watching us be idiots (and eat sandwiches) on camera, that you sold out the screening, and you’ve chosen us for the prestigious Slooted Spoon Award.

It’s BEAUTIFUL!

In total seriousness, the AMC Village Cinemas was a big hangout for my back in the 90s when I was in high school. Thinking that one day they would be showing a film about me and my future husband, that the movie would sell out the entire theater, AND that it would win an award over the hundreds of other films submitted? Do you understand how utterly surreal this is for me? I am so incredibly grateful for all of this.

If anyone wants to make a film about us for the 2013 Food Film Festival just let us know - apparently we’re good luck! Maybe we can finally get someone to animate Let’s Bake the Whole Thing Off.

If you didn’t get to the festival this weekend to see the film- well, it’s not up on the internet yet, but I promise you I’ll post it the second it becomes available.

And now……FLAVORS! The much lusted after Car Bomb has returned- go get your before they’re all gone!

This is sort of the sad part of fall for me, because I wait all damn year for the fall flavors to come back, and now as we burn through the schedule and get closer and closer to Thanksgiving, we start putting them back in the vault til 2012.  Most of what you’ve seen this month will not be going back to stores this year, and we’re almost done baking off our batters for DeKalb.  I try to be optimistic and think about all the exciting new Holiday flavors that are coming up, like Port Poached Pear, Chocolate Paneforte and Milk & Cookies, but I still know what the end of fall means……

Sad Panda is not looking forward to shoveling snow this year.

Ok, enough with this sadness nonsense.  Let’s talk happy stuff- like:

being mentioned by New York Magazine for the “Pumpkin Beyond Pie” feature! Seriously, every time we’re mentioned on a list that includes Francois Payard and Jacques Torres, I need to slap myself.  Chef Torres is the entire reason I wanted to go into pastry when I was 15 years old (thanks to his amazing ‘Dessert Circus’ program on PBS), and Payard is on a very high pedestal in my book.  And now Chef Torres and I are neighbors at DeKalb Market! Fifteen year old Allison it totally freaking out over it!

Of course, this whole slideshow is a reminder that you need to get your Thanksgiving orders in ASAP.  If you don’t want to order through us, you CAN order at your local Robicelli’s retailer- all our Thanksgiving flavors are going to stores both Monday and Wednesday next week.  Now I’m going to quit nagging you about it- because there’s still two more blog posts this week where I can do that and I need to save my strength.

Cupcakes! Go eat!

The 21st is finally here, which means it is out LAST DAY OF MADISON SQUARE EATS.  We don’t have any wholesale outlets in that neighborhood, so in theory this may be the last you see of us in Flatiron til next spring.

*sniff*.….we’ll miss you so much………..

But if you can’t make it for our last day, you can always catch us on Sunday at

The Grub Street Food Festival at The Hester Street Fair! We’ll be serving Ionas, Ebingers, Butternut Spice, lots and lots of brownies, and……

CHICKEN N’WAFFLES!

And to answer this question in advance: YES, that’s real chicken. Please please pleeeeaaaasssseee do not come up to us this weekend and ask us if it’s real chicken.  It’s called “Chicken n’Waffles”.  Our menu says “Topped with a piece of buttermilk soaked fried chicken coated in maple syrup”.  It has been in Food and Wine, it has been on the Today Show, and there is very obviously a piece of chicken on top of it.  We would not have done all of this if it was actually a piece of octopus, or toast, or a rock. It’s chicken. We can move on.

Also, YES, it’s really good. I don’t understand why we are constantly asked this question.  Why would we make it if it was disgusting? It’s good. It’s better than good. It’s far and away our most popular cupcake.  We are not trying to poison you America- you need to trust us.

If you would like to ask us any of the other popular questions we are asked about this cupcake, such as “No really- is it chicken?”, or “Seriously? NO! It’s not chicken. What is it?”, or “Do people buy that?”, then please head on over to our Facebook page and ask us.  We’re happy to help!

In the meantime, we’ve got these awesome cupcakes at our retailers, DeKalb, and Madison! And they are also delicious!

Aaaaaannnnd I’m done.

Seriously, I am at the point where I don’t think I can perform a single iota of more work. Today I worked on the book proposal (getting there), fought with MS Word (getting nowhere), answered about 5000 emails, booked 5 weddings for next year, made some modifications to the website……you ever get to a point where you’re pretty sure you’ve heard a part of your brain pop? I’m there.

I’m in bed watching the Golden Girls. I can’t bring myself to do a damn thing more. So since I’ve checked out, I’m bringing a guest star onto the blog.

Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you the very reason the internet was invented! A duck eating a Pizza Hut pizza!

Now- cupcakes! Remember there’s only three more days at Madison Square Eats, so hurry Manhattan!

Weather is perfect right now, and it’s going to stay beautiful all weekend, meaning it’s about dang time you GOT THE HELL OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!

Fall could not have come quick enough. I’m working outdoors right now in a crisp breeze, drinking coffee and wearing an adorable little sweater.  I look so goddamn cute right now, really.  (And if you want to come look cute with me, I’ll be working on the book at Hom in Bay Ridge for the next week, enjoying their fair trade coffee and free WiFi. They also have some pretty dope cupcakes here, if that’s your thing).

I think you guys should all put on cute sweaters and come see us this weekend- or at the very least an adorable jacket.  Because, well, there’s just so much to do this weekend! And NEW FLAVORS! Like:

-We’re using up the last of our New Jersey sweet corn to make something special just for you- a popcorn cupcake! Sweet corn cake, with a salted sweet butter buttercream, topped with Iowa popcorn!

-We also got some gorgeous sweet potatoes on our last trip to the farms in Jersey- so Sweet Potato Pie cupcakes are coming back!

-A cupcake inspired by baklava that we’re still designing……want to help us out? Friend us on Facebook- we ask for your input quite often over there!

-This puppy right here

Remember this from a few weeks ago? This is the Laurenzano: fresh fig cake with goat cheese buttercream, fig balsamic gastrique and crispy prosciutto.  This is the last time you’ll have a chance to see this for at least a year since fig season is just about done.

And of course, what would a very special day be without

CHICKEN N’ WAFFLES CUPCAKES!!!

You’ve heard about them, you’ve been requesting them for weeks, and tomorrow they’ll be back to knock your socks off.  And there will be TWO spots to get them at:

As always, come visit our store at DeKalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn (138 Willoughby Street).  This weekend is “Family Weekend”, so there will be lots of great attractions for the kids, plus DJs and Brooklyn Brewery for the adults.

AND

Come visit us and 74 other vendors for The Brooklyn Local, a fundraiser at DUMBO’s Historic Tobacco Warehouse benefiting City Harvest. In the afternoon, I’ll be hosting a “Make Your Own Cupcake Bar” for the kids, where kids can frost their own cupcakes and add as many toppings as they’d like. And in true Robicelli’s fashion, no food dyes or sprinkles- we’ll have crushed cookies, homemade chocolate and caramel sauces, chocolate chips, dried fruits (because we’re parents too- we just had to try), and more!

Fun fact: last time I was at the Tobacco Warehouse was almost 10 years ago, when my right arm made an appearance in a Most Precious Blood music video (don’t try to find me- you’ll have a seizure). Had you told me at that shoot that one day I’d be in the same spot hosting a kids’ cupcake decorating table at an artisan food festival……well, I mean seriously, how ridiculous is that last statement?

I guess this means I’m officially grown up now.  Because I didn’t get the hint from the marriage, children or businesses.  *le sigh*

Anyway- come down!  We look forward to seeing you!  And please tell me how young looking and attractive I am! Thanks in advance!

Thanksgiving has finally arrived, and so marks the unofficial end of fall.  We’ve had good one, filled with lots of happy memories, and lots of great seasonal flavors.  This is the last time you’ll be seeing most of these until next year, so make sure you enjoy them before they go back in the vault!

We are doing ALL of our deliveries today, so that we can spend the next few days with our kids putting up the tree, hanging our stockings, and stuffing our faces before the madness of the holiday season begins.  We’ll be back to our normal delivery schedule on Monday, and posting our holiday market schedule very soon (you’ll be seeing TONS of us from now until Christmas).

Aaaannnnd I forgot to take pictures of these before I left the kitchen tonight.  I had a really long day.  I mean, we did six flavors and close to 1,000 cupcakes, just the two of us!  It’s a miracle I’m typing relatively coherently right now.  I fully expected this post to be 95% misspelled, peppered with curse words and threats against the Church of Scientology (you know, for funzies).  Just close your eyes and envision the beauty of the cupcakes- trust me, they’re sexy as all hell.
